This visit offers a final opportunity to capture powerful portraits and intimate moments that reflect the spirit of Kazakhstan’s eagle hunters. It’s a fitting conclusion to an extraordinary journey—one filled with action, connection, and culture. We’ve witnessed ancient skills brought vividly to life, shared meals in traditional yurts, and experienced the warmth of true Kazakh hospitality. Our memory cards are full, but so are our hearts. As we depart from Ust-Kamenogorsk and begin our journey home, we carry with us far more than images—we carry stories, friendships, and a deeper understanding of a timeless way of life. This final day marks not just an end, but a lasting beginning in our photographic journey.
      Night: Dedeman Hotel, Ust-Kamenogorsk.

      Day 9-10

Portraits of Heritage in Autumn Light

Our final photography sessions unfold in the golden fields outside Oskemen, where Kazakh heritage is brought to life through two unforgettable days of portraiture and cultural storytelling. Dressed in richly detailed traditional garments, Kazakh couples and Batyr warriors (Kazakh heroes) pose against sweeping autumn backdrops, embodying both strength and grace. These sessions offer the chance to capture dramatic portraits, emotional moments, and powerful reenactments of historic warrior rituals. We focus on both individual and paired storytelling—romantic gestures, ceremonial attire, and proud warrior stances—highlighting the deep ties between identity, land, and legacy. With golden light pouring across the open steppe, each frame becomes a timeless tribute to Kazakhstan’s living history. As the sun sets on our final day, we reflect on a journey rich in culture, connection, and unforgettable photographic encounters—an expedition that goes beyond the lens to celebrate the enduring spirit of the Kazakh people.

This is one of Mangystau’s photographic highlights, and we’ll take our time exploring multiple vantage points throughout the morning. After a short break and lunch, we continue our journey to the nearby and enigmatic Mount Bokty, a flat-topped, layered mountain whose sharp lines and unique shape offer excellent opportunities for creative composition. Later in the day, we return to Kyzel Kup and climb one of the surrounding ridgelines to capture golden-hour light sweeping over Boszhira’s jagged cliffs, soft dunes, and vast desert floor.
