Your Kazakhstan & Kyrgyzstan itinerary

Day 1

Fly to Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Your photographic journey begins with a flight to Almaty, the lushest city along the Silk Road. Upon arrival, our welcoming team will warmly greet you and escort you to your comfortable hotel for relaxation. For early arrivals or assistance with additional accommodations, please reach out to the Infinite Horizons office—we’ll be delighted to help. Night: Mercure City Center Hotel, Almaty.

Day 2

Yssyk Lake & Altyn Emel: Wild Beauty Unveiled

Today, we rise early for a breathtaking sunrise adventure at Yssyk Lake. A gentle 10-minute walk from the parking area reveals the spectacular green-blue waters—a photographer’s paradise. Capture reflections of white birches mirrored in tranquil waters, ideal for mesmerizing long-exposure photography. Later, we journey to Altyn Emel and settle into a local guesthouse, immersing ourselves in genuine Kazakh hospitality. Experience authentic warmth and kindness while staying with a welcoming host family. As the day draws to a close, we visit the remarkable Singing Dunes. Ascend this towering dune, nestled amid stunning mountains, and witness an unforgettable desert sunset. It’s an enchanting moment of natural beauty and tranquility.

Day 3

Carved by time: Aktau Mountains & Charyn Canyon

An enchanting morning begins before dawn as we head to the ancient Aktau Mountains in Altyn Emel, a landscape sculpted over 400 million years. Nature reveals its artistry here—vivid crimson cliffs, soft blue skies, and stands of green trees blending into a scene that feels painted by hand. Whether on foot or through your drone’s lens, every angle offers breathtaking composition. Watch for wild Kulan quietly roaming the valleys and raptors gliding overhead.

By afternoon, we arrive at the magical Charyn Canyon, where we’ll spend the night. Our accommodation rests at the canyon’s edge, placing you at the doorstep of one of Kazakhstan’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders. Towering rock formations and hidden crevices invite exploration and stillness. As golden light washes over the canyon walls, let your camera—and your imagination—capture the essence of timeless beauty and solitude. It’s a place that speaks in silence and stone.

Day 4-5

Golden hours in two countries!

We begin our morning at a hidden gem in Charyn Canyon, just a short drive away. As dawn breaks, a winding river glistens below emerald trees, framed by fiery red cliffs—an unforgettable scene of contrast and calm. We’ll take our time capturing the golden light as it spills over the canyon walls, then return for a relaxed breakfast.

Our journey continues into the enchanting landscapes of Kyrgyzstan. Along the way, we’ll follow the rhythm of the road, stopping for spontaneous photo opportunities as nature unveils her surprises. The next morning, we rise early for sunrise in the breathtaking Chon Ashuu Valley. Nestled high in the mountains, this valley offers sweeping views—just be sure to dress warmly! After a midday rest, we gather for a hands-on Editing Workshop to refine your shots. As the day ends, we reach Issyk Kol Lake, where a glowing sunset reflects across tranquil waters.

Day 6-7

Chasing Light in the Forgotten Valleys

After days of red rock marvels, today brings the dramatic beauty of the Jeti Oguz Mountains, where vibrant crimson cliffs rise in striking formations. We’ll photograph the landscape from several scenic viewpoints before returning to our accommodation for a short rest. Later, we visit Fairy Canyon, where golden hour light bathes the sculpted terrain—perfect for capturing dreamy sunset images.

The next morning, we set out for the Valley of the Forgotten Rivers. This remote and surreal landscape offers endless photographic inspiration, from ground level to aerial drone shots. Afterward, enjoy a restful afternoon: hike solo, swim in the nearby lake, or simply unwind in nature. As evening falls, we arrive at Mars Canyon, a surreal, otherworldly setting. Here, under the fading light, we witness the ancient art of Eagle Hunting—a powerful cultural experience and a photographer’s dream. Prepare for a day full of wonder, light, and unforgettable moments.

Day 8-9

The Last Shot: Son Kol’s Golden Goodbye

This morning, we return to your favorite location from the past days—one last chance to capture its magic before heading to our final destination: Son Kol, fondly called “Heaven on Earth.” As we ascend winding mountain roads, each curve reveals breathtaking vistas and fields dotted with delicate edelweiss, symbols of love and resilience.

At Son Kol, surrounded by serene alpine beauty, we settle into a cozy lakeside yurt camp. Here, the whispering wind, rustling grass, and distant bird calls compose nature’s final lullaby. On our last morning, we explore the plateau one final time—where red rocks and green meadows meet, and dewdrops shimmer on mountain blooms. Over breakfast, we reflect on the unforgettable landscapes, shared laughter, and moments that defined our journey. As we return to Bishkek, a celebratory dinner awaits—a perfect close to a photographic adventure filled with beauty, wonder, and lasting memories.

Day 10

Airport transfer and end tour

After a memorable journey, a smooth airport transfer is arranged to bring you to Bishkek Airport (FRU). Reflect on the unforgettable experiences, landscapes, and cultures you’ve encountered as you make your way back to the airport, ready to depart with cherished memories. Safe travels, and we look forward to welcoming you again on your next adventure.

This photo tour offers a balance of comfort and adventure. Accommodations range from cozy hotels to authentic yurt camps, with shared facilities in remote areas. All locations are carefully selected for their scenic or cultural value. Transport is by comfortable 4WD vehicles, ideal for accessing wild landscapes. Designed for photographers of all levels, the journey includes relaxed walks, occasional hikes, and plenty of time to capture each location in the best light.

Clothing - What to pack?

Our June photo tour spans diverse climates—from warm steppe to cool mountain valleys. We recommend layered clothing, including a light jacket for crisp mornings and evenings. Comfortable, sturdy walking shoes are essential for varied terrain. For sun protection and cultural respect, opt for long sleeves and trousers during rural visits. Casual attire is suitable throughout, though a smart-casual outfit is ideal for dinners. In remote areas, laundry services may be limited, so plan accordingly for multi-day wear.
