Dennis Keen is an American researcher, educator, and passionate tour leader who has made Almaty, Kazakhstan his home since 2013. Married to a local, he enjoys a vibrant family life with his two children, a son and a daughter.

Dennis leads many of Infinite Horizon’s cultural tours across Central Asia, bringing a calm yet passionate approach to his excursions. His love for interaction and teaching shines as he shares the fascinating history, traditions, and stories of his favourite region.

Outside of guiding, Dennis runs Walking Almaty, Kazakhstan’s premier walking tour provider, and spearheads Monumental Almaty, a research and advocacy project focused on Soviet monumental art. A prolific writer, he has authored guidebooks on Kazakhstan’s national parks and Soviet art. Dennis has also served as a lecturer on Kazakh history, culture, and language at UCLA and hosted the travel series Discovering Kazakhstan with Dennis Keen on Kazakh TV.
